DIO ANNOUNCES SHORTLISTED BIDDERS FOR NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION
Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has announced a shortlist of 10 bidders for its future commercial arrangements for the delivery of large-scale construction projects across the UK Defence estate. ARMSTRONG CEILINGS DEBUTS ENERGY-SAVING COOLZONE SYSTEM AT ECOBUILD

Eco-friendly systems that help to reduce a building’s energy costs, at the same time as they maximise occupier comfort, will debut with Armstrong Ceilings at Ecobuild 2012. CoolZone tiles, which feature Phase Change Material (PCM) that absorbs heat to delay the requirement for air conditioning, will showcase on Armstrong Ceilings’ stand (N1120) that will itself help to demonstrate how the system works. FIRA DRAMATICALLY REDUCE THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT BY WORKING WITH RECYCLING FURNITURE LTD
Through the help of Recycling Furniture Ltd, FIRA are now able to recycle a large proportion of the furniture they test, rather than sending it to landfill. Paul Soley, Operations Manager for FIRA Testing Services said, "At the FIRA testing centre we test thousands of furniture products to life expectancy and in some cases destruction, testing them in terms of strength, safety, stability, durability and flammability. SAFETY MATTING BRIDGES THE GAP
The Raiffeisen Bank in Gossau, Switzerland is using Frontrunner XT matting to provide safe passage for pedestrians on three footbridges which link the car-park to the bank’s entrance. The original safety problem occurred when the steel bridges got cold very quickly which in turn made the walkway surface icy and slippery. The 100per cent vinyl open grid matting, suited for tough external environments, is manufactured by Plastic Extruders Ltd and was specified by flooring specialist Wibatec. Read More... YORK HOSPITAL FOCUSES ON EVACUATION SAFETY

York Hospital has teamed up with Evac+Chair International to continue to uphold robust evacuation plans for its occupants. With previous positive experience with Evac+Chair products, the hospital has installed an additional 20 chairs for its hospital stairwells and in public access areas of their multi-storey car park, to serve as part of their emergency evacuation plans.
